Best Wineries near Queenstown
Find the best Central Otago wineries for Pinot Noir a short drive from Queenstown.
Central Otago Pinot Noir is one of my favourite wines and there are some fantastic wineries within a short drive of Queenstown. Here are a few of my favourites that I think are worth a visit.
Mount Edward
The wine tasting is expensive but worth it for the quality and the setting.
Kinross
Kinross represents multiple wineries (including Valli, which is one of my favourite pinot noir producers).
Chard Farm
Chard Farm is a bit further off the main road but they have some great wines.
Mt Difficulty
It’s not cheap but the food and wine are both excellent. The restaurant is set in a beautiful location with views of the vineyards and mountains. You’ll probably need to book but I definitely recommend it!
Carrick
A lovely picturesque winery with a good restaurant. A bottle of the Carrick Pinot Noir in 2013 was my gateway into Central Otago wines!
Akarua
Some tasty wines and very close to Carrick.
Felton Road
Excellent free tour and tasting, by appointment only. It takes about 1.5hrs and is definitely worth it.
Terra Sancta
One of my favourite wineries in Central Otago, so much so that I’ve been a member of their wine club for years. A cute little cellar door, worth visiting!
